Jonathan nominates Eight new Ministers

President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday sent a
list of eight ministerial nominees to the Senate
for screening and approval.
The list which was contained in a letter signed
by Jonathan and addressed to Senate President,
David Mark, include names of senator Musiliu
Obanikoro from Lagos state; Senator Patricia
Akwashiki (Nasarawa); Mrs. Hauwa’u Lawan
(Jigawa) and Prof. Nicholas Akise Ada (Benue).
Others are, Col. Augustine Akobundu (retd.)
(Abia); Mr. Fidelis Nwankwo (Ebonyi); Mr.
Kenneth Kobani (Rivers) and Senator Joel Ikenya
(Taraba).
Jonathan in his letter dated 16th February, 2015
noted that the request for senate screening was
in accordance with Section 147 (2) of the 1999
Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Briefing journalists after plenary, the Chairman,
Senate Committee on Information, Media and
Public Affairs, Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe, said the
ministerial nominees would start appearing
before the senate as from Wednesday next week.
