OAU Saga! PRO Addresses issue of President Assault.

OFFICE OF THE PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER
      PRESIDENT’S ASSAULT: JUSTICE WITH MERCY
‘‘Our union is built on the tenets of equity, justice and fairness’’.
Our understanding of leadership may differ, our political ideology dissenting but something we unanimously believe is that astute leadership is rooted in the deep commitment for selfless service to humanity.  This incontrovertible conviction is the basis of our actions and inactions at the CEC, and this we emulate from our amiable Mr President (TY).  We see our emergence as God given opportunity to make impact and lays legacy and not for any form of personal adulation or aggrandizement but basically to serve and write our name on the good side of history.
We have had good leaders and we have had bad ones, but something we have resolve is never to incur the wrath of God and that of Great Ife students. As a result, we run an open office and accessible style of leadership. The President resolves never to move around with bodyguards, and as much as he can be readily available to students, this some people sometimes take for granted.
I want to appreciate Great Ife students for your much concern, emails phone calls and the demand for serious punishment on Mr Teddy. I will like inform you to know that the President is in a perfect state of the body, mind and soul.
Most especially, we appreciate Great Awoites for your massive arrival at SUB on hearing the incident.  Such swift intervention corroborates the consciousness of the Awoites and there lies the strength of our union.
Mr Teddy was a member of the security committee of the Ibikunle-led administration. He is known for is characteristically bellicose disposition, with numerous reports of assault on Great Ife students. He recently (3 weeks ago) assaulted the President of Psychology (Mr. Temitope Adedeji) and was warned by the interim security committee after writing an apology letter. He was reported to us on Wed night (20/5/2015) that he moderated a case of thief. He was invited to the Students’ Union to be warned and cautioned by the President. It was during this period that Mr Teddy could not control is emotions.
As a Union, the life and studentship of our members is very paramount to us irrespective of their idiosyncrasies.
The President personal appeal to Great Ife students that mobilized down to SUB around 1am was JUST TO ENSURE THAT HE WAS NOT LYNCH BECAUSE EMOTIONS WAS HIGH.
We want to plead that Mr Teddy is still a student on this campus and our action of stopping students from dealing with him was not that we have not recognize that he has committed an offense against the personality of Omotayo Akande(TY) and an abuse on His Office but was just to forestall him from been mobbed.  That was why we even have to keep him at SUB till yesterday.  WE ARE NOT UNAWARE OF GREAT IFE STUDENTS DEMAND FOR HIS MASSIVE BEATING BUT WE JUST BELIEVE THAT WE SHOULD TEMPER JUSTICE WITH MERCY BECAUSE LEAVING HIM TO BE DEALT WITH MAYBE UNCONTROLLABLE.
However, as a union we want to issue an open warning not only to Mr Teddy but the studentry that any form of assault, fighting by ANY student on this campus will be taken to be a cult-like gesture and will be seriously dealt with. While every member of the union is a member of the security committee since security is a collective responsibility, the security committee of the Students Union ONLY has the exclusive prerogative to moderate on issue and deal with erring students.
To the fake face book accounts and propagandists, we appreciate your lies, its making it interesting.
We remain resolute in serving students on the principle of openness and accessibility. The president still resolves not to use bodyguards. We are all equal.
ALUTA CONTINUA, VICTORIA ASCERTA
