latest on Xenophobia: South Africa returns 5, 645 immigrant.

The South African Government through its spokesman, Jeff Radebe, made it known that the foreigners in South Africa chose to leave voluntarily after the violence was curbed in April ending.

The Nigerian pilot reports that, Malawi recorded the highest number of returned foreigners with a total of 3,506, followed by Zimbabweans (1, 440), Mozambicans (682) and Tanzanians with 17 returned immigrants.

Radebe, said the repatriation process started soon after the latest spate of xenophobia violence ended in April.

Radebe said:“The Department of Social Development continues to work closely with other relevant departments, as well as civil society organisations to provide support to displaced foreign nationals.’’
