Buhari, Shekau make TIME'S 100 most influential list



President-elect Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has been included on tmTIME’s list of 100 most influential people in the world.

Other Nigerians who made the list are former minister for education and #BringBackOurGirl activist, Mrs Obiageli Ezekwesili, renowned novelist, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and Book Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau.

Buhari made name in March as the first Nigerian to defeat a sitting Nigerian President in an election.
“Now he has to live up to voters’ expectations. From battling the Boko Haram insurgency to tackling endemic corruption, Buhari has many challenges ahead. The greatest may be overcoming his past as a military ruler, who
seized power in 1983.

Ezekwesili got on the list for her a influence during the #BringBackOurGirl campaign, the girls have been missing for over a year now. Adichie is a rare writer who had her literature sampled by Beyonce and Lupita Nyong'o within a year.

The controversial inclusion is Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau whose group became more popular for the abduction of over 200 girls last year, and extension of their operations into Chad and Cameroon. Boko Haram has killed about 20,000 people.

Time's 100 most influential list is an annual list of people with the biggest impact from around the world.
