Today, the police arraigned a 23-year-old student, Alfaruk Umar in a Wuse Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, for possession of a magistrate’s lost phone.
The Prosecutor, Sgt Abdullah Alhassan, told the court that the accused was arraigned on one-count charge of having in possession stolen property.
Umar was said to have stolen the phone in March, The phone of Senior Magistrate Abdulazeez Anka.
He told the court that on March 26, Anka had reported to the police that his blackberry phone valued at N45, 000 was stolen at the NNPC Filling Station, Wuse II, Abuja.
The prosecutor prayed the court for a date to enable him open his case against the accused.
The Senior Magistrate, Mr Celestine Odo, granted him bail in the sum of N200, 000 and a surety in like sum. Odo said that surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and a person with a reasonable means of livelihood.
He adjourned the case till June 16, for hearing.
Everyday for the thief, one day for the owner.
