MTN to pay fine of 50 billion to the Ministry of Communication


MTN was fined for the sum of N1.04 trillion by the NCC for failing to register a number of
subscribers in accordance with laid down rules.

After so much appeal and negotiation, there was a review conducted and the Federal Government reduced the fine by 25 per cent.

This and the payment of N50  billion by the same telecommunication company led to an investigation of the
 issue by the House of Representatives.


The Federal Government has insisted that MTN Nigeria pays N50 billion for its violation of
Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) cards registration policy.


While making his presentation on the floor of the House on
diversification of the Nigerian economy,

The Minister of Communications,Mr Shitu Adebayo said this while presenting on the floor of the House on the diversifying of the Nigerian Economy.
